Clayton, March 11.---C. Elton Lingenfelter, 45, of 1060 State street, this village, died this morning at 7:20 in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where he had been a patient since February 11.

Ill since early January, Mr. Lingenfelter had been suffering from asthma and a lung ailment, but had been able to be up and around until he entered the hospital.

Mr. Lingenfelter, for years a St. Lawrence river fishing guide here and during the past two winters a snowplow operator for the town of Clayton, had been afflicted with asthma for years.

Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Katharyn M. Fluckiger Lingenfelter; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Perl J. Lingenfelter, Depauville, and a son, Donald Elton Lingenfelter, 3.

A lifelong resident of the town of Clayton, Mr. Lingenfelter was a member of the Methodist church of Depauville and for years was a member of the Volunteer fire department of this village.

He was born at Depauville Feb. 18, 1902, a son of Perl J. and Lillian Sherman Lingenfelter. He was educated in the Depauville and Clayton schools and resided at Depauville until he moved to Clayton 16 years ago.

For about ten years Mr. Lingenfelter was an automobile salesman in the employ of Clifton H. Good, Clayton automobile dealer. Later, he was for about three years employed as driver of the Clayton Central school bus.

On Oct. 2, 1931 he married Miss Katharyn M. Fluckiger, Clayton, daughter of Mrs. Effie Fluckiger Griffin, this village, and the late Joseph C. Fluckiger. The ceremony was performed at Copenhagen.

In September, 1939, he won the Democratic nomination for supervisor of the town of Clayton, but lost the election to George P. Schafer, Clayton, Republican. Parents: .

Clayton, Oct. 5 -- Miss Kathryn Fluckiger, daughter of Mrs. Effie (Fluckiger) Griffin, this village, and Elton Lingenfelter, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Lingenfelter, Depauville, were married Friday evening, at the Methodist parsonage at Copenhagen by Rev. Frank Brown, pastor, formerly of Depauville.

After the ceremony the bridal party motored to Canajoharie where a wedding dinner was served at the Hotel Wagner.

Mrs. Lingenfelter is a graduate of Clayton High school and Clayton training class. She has taught in the rural schools for a few years.

Mr. Lingenfelter for the past five years has been associated with the Good Chevrolet company, this village. After a trip of ten days the couple will make their home in this village.
