Donald Burr Glosenger, 80, 222 Chestnut St., Athens, PA, formerly of Sayre, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at home after an extended illness.
Born in Sayre, June 23, 1921, the son of Andrew and Freda Struhm Glosenger, he was a 1939 graduate of Sayre High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps (later in the U.S. Air Force) during World War II at Greater Ash Field in England as an airplane mechanic of B17s. He retired from G.E. Rail Car in Sayre after 20 years.
He was a member of the Sayre Christian Church, a devoted choir member and served as deacon and trustee over the years. He was also a member of the Skiff Bower Post #1536 VFW of Sayre.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marsha Ann and Michael Daly of Suwanee, GA; a son, Gary Allen Glosenger, of Athens; sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna and John Ryck, Sayre, Helen and Ralph Kelley of Sayre and Mary and Donald Campbell of Cayuta, NY; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Sally Glosenger of Horseheads, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, M. Geraldine Glosenger in 1994 and his brothers, Max, Rex and Carl Glosenger and one sister, Ruth Lamb.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lowery Funeral Home, 225 South Main St., Athens.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 19 at 2 p.m. with Rev. James Donahoo, pastor of the Sayre Christian Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens.
